Redding is 3

THREE!
Here we are almost a month beyond his birthday, and I am just now beginning to think about the changes that 3 brings.
It has been an amazing year. Personality is popping out all over. There is gradually less screaming and fussing and more cajoling, on his part at least.
Potty training had progressed to underpants, until the dreaded rotavirus hit. Since then we’ve all been a little gun shy.
Redding is 100% jazzed to go to school, but not quite ready for the preschools that require the potty training. It’s a huge incentive, but not quite enough to get him to commit.
With his latest pair of shoes, Red has begun to put on and take off his own shoes. Yes, I realized a while ago that he had the skills, just lacked the initiative. Now he’s all about “all by myself.”
He asks the same questions over and over. He asks why about everything, even the things for which there is no why. Is that a tree? Yes. Why? What time is it? 8:45 a.m. Why?
There are new foods, including pancakes, tortillas, and BIRTHDAY CAKE!
Just before turning 3 Red started recognizing stores, logos, and things like that. He already knows his letters and numbers, so I figure he will be reading before the year is up. Already he loves his story times, will ask for books most any time, and even enjoys sitting and ‘reading’ his books all by himself.
Goodbye baby, hello big boy.
