Out of the Mouths of Babes

Yesterday on the way home from the gym, Redding asked me a question and I said, “I don’t know, honey.” Redding’s reply? “My name isn’t ‘honey.’” “Really?” I asked. “Whose name is honey?” “Dad.” That’s my family; honey, sissy, and buddy.
On the trip to the gym, Annabella made this announcement, “I think when I grow up, I’m going to marry my brother.” I said, “That’s not going to be possible. You can be great friends with your brother your whole life, if you two treat each other with kindness and respect. But it is illegal to marry your brother.”
“Are you sure, mom?”
“Yes, I’m quite sure.”
“What does illegal mean?”
“It means it is against the law. If you found someone who would marry you and your brother, you would be breaking the law.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“You’re sure?”
“Positive.”
“Guess I’ll have to find somebody else, then. Sorry buddy.”
