Annabella found the scars on her back on Tuesday night when she was getting her pajamas on. She asked me what “that weird stuff” on her back was.
“Those are your surgery scars.” I calmly replied.
“What is surgery? Why did I have surgery? What’s a duct? In my heart? It’s in my heart?” There was a world of questions and simple, clear answers that she handled with an incredibly relaxed attitude.
There were moments, in fact, where she looked as if she thought I was making up fairytales.
Hopefully it will continue to be something that is not a big deal, just a minor part of her she wanted information about. Not nearly as interesting as her two new molars and the four teeth she’s lost in the last few months.
